I Wish I Could Quit Smoking

Stinky SmokerI cannot count the number of times I’ve heard this over the years. If you are a smoker, and if you have said this and you really mean it, I have GREAT news for you! Hypnotherapy is marvelous in helping smokers quit their habit – for good! It is cost effective, usually only requiring 1 session, and sometimes a second follow-up session. Hypnotherapy is a totally natural process, and you don’t need patches, gum, or medication to effect the change.

The benefits of quitting smoking are amazing. Look at these facts from the American Cancer Society:

When smokers quit – what are the benefits over time?

20 minutes after quitting

Your heart rate and blood pressure drop.

12 hours after quitting

The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.

2 weeks to 3 months after quitting

Your circulation improves and your lung function increases.

1 to 9 months after quitting

Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair-like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) start to regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection.

1 year after quitting

The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a continuing smoker’s.

5 years after quitting

Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and bladder are cut in half. Cervical cancer risk falls to that of a non-smoker. Stroke risk can fall to that of a non-smoker after 2-5 years.

10 years after quitting

The risk of dying from lung cancer is about half that of a person who is still smoking. The risk of cancer of the larynx (voice box) and pancreas decreases.

15 years after quitting

The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a non-smoker’s.

These are just a few of the benefits of quitting smoking for good. Quitting smoking lowers the risk of diabetes, lets blood vessels work better, and helps the heart and lungs. Quitting while you are younger will reduce your health risks more, but quitting at any age can give back years of life that would be lost by continuing to smoke.

Thanks so much Judy! Smoking has such a bad effect on so many of the people we love. It’s nice to have a way to help them. I wish I would have found hypnotherapy before my mother died of cancer. I know it could have helped so much. You know I am here for you if you ever need anything else!!

Many years ago I doubted that hypnotherapy had any real benefit. That was until I actually tried it. Within an hour or so of my first ever hypnotherapy session I classed myself as an ex-smoker. While I’m sure not everyone is quite as lucky to see results so quickly, it can difficult to explain to smokers who have tried and failed to quit just how hypnosis can be; and how much easier it can make the quitting process!

You are so right Paige! So many people find success in hypnotherapy for a wide variety of changes, smoking included, when everything else they tried has failed. You are living proof of the success hypnotherapy can offer!
